Permission request for educational use of Qur’an translation
N
Nasrin Mujawar
Assalamu Alaikum,
I hope you are doing well.
I am an individual from Canada who is working on creating free educational content to help people understand the Qur’an in simple English and Hindi.
I would like to ask whether I am permitted to use your English translation of the Qur’an for creating narrated audio videos (including AI-generated narration) on YouTube.
The purpose of this project is purely educational. The videos will be:
free for all viewers
not sold or used for commercial resale
fully attributed to the translation and source
shared to help English and Hindi speakers understand the Qur’an more easily
If this use is not permitted, I would appreciate if you could let me know any licensing conditions or alternative options available.
JazakAllahu Khair for your time and consideration.
Kind regards,
N

Assalamu Alaikum,
Jazakum Allahu Khayran for your reply.
Thank you for your response.
The English translation I am interested in using is
The Clear Quran
by Dr. Mustafa Khattab
.Could you please let me know whether this translation may be used for creating narrated YouTube videos, and whether any permission or license is required?
Jazakum Allahu Khayran for your guidance.
Kind regards,

Assalamu Alaikum Dear Nasrin Mujawar,
Jazakum Allahu khayran for reaching out and for your careful approach.
Permission to use Qur’an translations depends on the specific translation and its licensing terms, as different translations may have different copyright requirements. Could you please confirm which English translation you would like to use in your videos?
Once we know the exact translation, we can better advise or share your request with the appropriate team for review.
